Gen 5

Richard Hawthrone (Heir)

Born in 1370, Richard learnd early age, that weight of his family’s survival rested on his young shoulders. His mother, Lassie, died when he was just five, after giving birth to his youngest sister, Ida. Richard’s father, Ryder, left for war soon after, leaving Richard to grow up quickly in the shadow of these tragedies.

By 1388, Richard was old enough to fight in the ongoing conflicts and was sent to war alongside his grandfather, John. When he returned in 1393, Richard was no longer the carefree boy who had played with his siblings in the fields of their estate. He had learned that life was fragile, and he carried that awareness into adulthood.

In 1394, Richard married a young girl named Elisabeth Cook, a marriage arranged to secure the family’s future. From their wedding night onward, Richard focused on ensuring that a heir was born. But tragedy followed him relentlessly. Between 1398 and 1404, Elisabeth bore several children—Marcus, Gerard, Clinton, Dorothy, Ericka, Felix, and Arthur—but most either died in infancy or were stillborn. In 1404, Elisabeth herself succumbed to death during childbirth, leaving Richard alone once again.

War beckoned for his father, Ryder, in 1408, and when he returned in 1413, Richard found himself responsible not just for his own children but also for his aging father. Richard’s later years were plagued by famine, and in 1425, Ryder died from starvation, the final tragedy in a long line of losses that had haunted Richard’s life.

Alice Hawthrone

The eldest of the Hawthrone siblings, Alice was born in 1368. She was only seven when her mother died giving birth to her sister, Ida, and in the years that followed, Alice assumed much of the responsibility for helping to raise her younger siblings.

Though still a child herself, Alice took on the duties of a mother, cooking, cleaning, and caring for her brothers and sisters as her father, Ryder, went off to war.

In 1386, at the age of 18, Alice was married off to Johan von Falken, a match made to strengthen family alliances. Leaving her childhood home behind, Alice embarked on a new chapter of life as a wife. She gave birth to several children (Henry, Catherine and Alexander), wich all reached adulthood)

Isabelle Hawthrone

Born in 1370, life for Isabella would not stretch into the years of adulthood. In 1382, at the tender age of 12, Isabella succumbed to a sudden illness that swept through the village. Nobody really cared about her passing, since it meant one female mouth less to feed

Matilda and Robert Hawthrone

Born in 1373, Matilda and Robert Hawthrone entered the world together. Matilda’s life was tragically short—she died in 1374.

Her twin brother Robert has had priority over her, since he was heir replacement material, so when it came to who got to eat, she was not important.

He later married to Elaina Hargrove and had several children (Anton, Lilian and Ezekiel). The towns myth says that his wife could hear everything.

Ida Hawthrone

Ida was the last child born to Lassie Hawthrone, her birth coming at the ultimate cost of her mother’s life. Born in 1375, Ida was a quiet child, often overlooked in the bustle of the family’s struggles.

[Note: I for some reason do not have a picture of her]

In 1390, at the age of 15, Ida was married off to Jule Smith. Like her sister Alice, Ida’s marriage was arranged for practical purposes.

She ended up having 3 children (Emma, Matthew and Isabel), but only her son reached adulthood.
