Ornelle was born as the first child of John Hawthorne in 1347. At 13 years old, in 1361, while working in the fields of her family’s farm, a 29-year-old man named Atticus Rosen passed by and took an immediate interest in her. He paid her father, John, a substantial sum of money and arranged for their marriage, a common practice in medieval times when marriages were often based on financial or social alliances rather than affection. That same year, she gave birth to her first child, Margery Rosen. Over the following years, Ornelle bore three more children: William, Thomas, and Edith. Tragically, in 1386, at the age of 39, Ornelle died from complications related to childbirth.

Born in 1348, Ryder was the first son of John and became the heir to the family estate. Unlike many of his siblings, Ryder witnessed the deaths of only two family members in his youth. He found solace in working the family’s fields, spending much of his time tending to the chickens and crops, responsibilities typical of peasant life in medieval England.
In 1368, at the age of 20, Ryder married Lassie Woode. That same year, their first daughter, Alice, was born. Over the years, Ryder and Lassie had seven children, though three died young, as was common due to the high child mortality rates in medieval times. In 1378, during the birth of their last child, Ida, Lassie tragically passed away from childbirth complications, leaving Ryder devastated.

In that same year, Ryder was called to serve in the Hundred Years’ War, a conflict that had raged between England and France since 1337. He left his children under the care of his father, John. While he was away, tragedy struck again when his daughter Isabelle passed away in 1382.
Fortunately, Ryder survived the war and returned home safely in 1383. Over the following years, he watched most of his surviving children marry and start families of their own. In 1395, Ryder’s father, John, passed away after a long life, marking a turning point for Ryder as he assumed full control of the family estate.
In 1408, Ryder was once again called to serve in the ongoing conflict. He returned home in 1413 but had grown weary and physically worn from the years of war and hard labor. He spent his final years working in the fields and helping his son Richard raise his children. Ryder passed away in 1420 at the age of 72.
Alfred Hawthrone
Alfred was born in 1349 but tragically passed away just one year later in 1350, falling victim to the Black Death.
Bedelia Hawthrone Bedelia was stillborn in 1350, never seeing the light of day.
Garry Hawthrone Garry was born in 1352 and married young to a woman named Corliss. Together, they had two children, though their names are not on record, which was not uncommon for families of lesser social standing. Garry lived a quiet life, working the land and raising his family, passing away in 1405 at the age of 53. As a child he looked like a copy of his uncle Cooper.

Edward Hawthrone Born in 1354, Edward married Rowena Hawthorne and had one child with her. Unlike some of his siblings, Edward lived a relatively peaceful life, avoiding the conflicts and tragedies that plagued many during this era. He passed away in 1400 at the age of 46. He married Rowena Hawthrone and had one child with her.
