Holden Hawthorne (the first Heir) was born in 1296, the first son of William Hawthorne and Marry Chambers, and the eldest brother of Joslyn and Adric. As the oldest child, Holden bore the weight of responsibility from a young age. When his father passed away, Holden took over the family farm at the age of 15 in 1311, becoming the head of the household.
Shortly after, in 1315, Holden married Matriza O’Brian, who took on the Hawthorne name. That same year, Holden adopted his younger brother Adric after their mother's death. Sadly, Adric passed away later that year from the same fever that had taken their mother.
In 1317, during the Great Famine, Holden's wife Matriza gave birth to triplets: Henry, Richard, and Eleanor. The joy of their birth was overshadowed by ongoing hardship. In 1319, Matriza suffered from an ectopic pregnancy. Her life was narrowly saved, but the baby did not survive, and Matriza was left unable to bear more children. Just two years later, in 1321, Matriza passed away, leaving Holden devastated.Tragedy struck again in 1322 when Holden’s firstborn son, Henry, also passed away. Barely able to recover from the losses that had plagued him, Holden succumbed to the same illness in 1323 that had claimed both his wife and son, leaving behind a legacy of survival and perseverance amidst hardship and loss.
Holden through the years
Joslyn was born in 1300 as the second child and first daughter of William Hawthorne and Marry Chambers. Her early years were marked by loss and hardship. She lost her father, William, during her childhood, and in 1314, her mother, Marry, passed away from a severe fever. Joslyn, only 14 at the time, also contracted the illness but miraculously survived the same fever that claimed both her mother and her younger brother, Adric.
In 1312, Adric was born, the last son of William Hawthorne and Marry Chambers. Tragically, he was born after William had already passed away. In 1314, when Adric was only two years old, his mother Marry died from a fever. With both parents gone, Adric was taken in by his older brother, Holden, who was now responsible for the family farm.
