Gen 17

Charlotte Hawthorne (1701 - 1749)
Charlotte was fortunate to be born into a family with Eadred as her father, as he did not care much about gender when it came to working in the fields. She got to experience the fields just like her brother did.

In 1726, at the age of 25, Charlotte married the local banker Michael Bell (1691 - 1755). They quickly started a family, and she gave birth to six children: Balthasar (1728 - 1772), Archie (1730 - 1780), Hem (1731 - 1800), Olive (1734 - 1742), Elizabeth (1736 - 1740), and Dosia (1738 - 1739).

Soon after giving birth to her last child, Charlotte passed away in 1749 from influenza.

August Hawthorne (1703 - 1783)
Born as the first son of Eadred, August became the new heir of this generation. In 1724, at the age of 21, August married 18-year-old Christina Jeffress (1706 - 1752). Their first daughter was born in 1727, followed by twin girls and two sons.

In 1752, August watched his wife pass away from smallpox, but his bad luck didn’t end there.
Two years after his wife’s passing, in 1754, the Seven Years' War began, and both August and his firstborn son were drafted. Luckily, both survived and returned home.

However, his misfortune continued. In 1775, August was drafted again, this time for the American Revolutionary War, in which he was killed in 1775.

Jude Hawthorne (1705)
Another short-lived child, passing away early.

Amelia Hawthorne (1707 - 1731)
The youngest daughter, Amelia, died single and childless, suggesting a possible pattern of bad luck for the youngest children. Perhaps the dice were not rolling in their favour.

She also was  very unlucky in the gene lottery.
